Enter the lot number from the container label. Certificates are issued per batch, so the one you retrieve describes the material in front of you rather than a representative sample of something similar.

- Why is a certificate of analysis tied to a lot number?
- A certificate reports what was measured on one specific batch. A certificate from a different lot describes different material, so it is not a substitute — even for the same catalog number.
- What does a certificate of analysis cover?
- Identity, purity by the stated method, and the other release tests listed on the document, along with the methods used and the date of release. It is a record of testing, not a fitness-for-purpose statement.
- Can I get a certificate for material I bought previously?
- Yes. Lot records are retained so a certificate can be re-issued after the material has been consumed, which is usually when an auditor asks for one. A re-issued certificate carries the original content.
- What if the lot number on my container is illegible?
- Contact the documentation team before using the material. A lot that cannot be identified cannot be matched to a certificate, and untraceable material should not be relied on for work that requires traceability.
